Mastering Harmonies will be a thorough breakdown of what harmony is, how to recognize it, and how to apply it in songs. When in an ensemble role, it’s important to know when you’re in tune with the rest of the cast, and how to fake it if you’re not (‘cause we’ve all been there). We’ll learn the basic structure of a triad and how to figure out which part of it we’re singing, learn different types of chords through ear training, and the sweet sensation of “tension” and “release”. Our showcase piece will be the Broadway version of “In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins featuring complex harmonies and chances for solos.
Prerequisite: 1 CYT voice, musical theater class or equivalent.
My name is Bryce Louviere: singer, pianist, actor, composer, theory nut, musician. I am currently displaced by Hurricane Laura and have impulsively decided to move to Austin. I majored in Music Education, Worship Leadership, and Vocal Performance in college and am now looking to expand and share what I know.
I am a classically trained singer and recreationally study many vocal genres. I’m also an improvisational pianist - mostly playing in churches, weddings, funerals, special events, etc. I’m the owner of Play-by-Ear Studio where I teach private voice and piano lessons as well as being a voice coach in collegiate and local musical theater productions.
Classes are held in the new educational building floor 1 and 2.
