Mastering Harmonies will be a thorough breakdown of what harmony is, how to recognize it, and how to apply it in songs. When in an ensemble role, it’s important to know when you’re in tune with the rest of the cast, and how to fake it if you’re not (‘cause we’ve all been there). We’ll learn the basic structure of a triad and how to figure out which part of it we’re singing, learn different types of chords through ear training, and the sweet sensation of “tension” and “release”. Our showcase piece will be the Broadway version of “In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins featuring complex harmonies and chances for solos.

Prerequisite: 1 CYT voice, musical theater class or equivalent.

Bryce Louviere

I’m a private voice and piano instructor and local theatre music director. I was involved with CYT Lake Charles before moving to Austin and fell in love with the work. I majored in Vocal Performance and Music Education in college and started my own studio in 2018. I’ve directed in community theatres and churches since High School and I’ve been in a few productions myself. I’ve discovered that teaching and directing are huge passions of mine and I’m eager to share what I know!

Location Notes:

Classes are held in the new educational building floor 1 and 2.
