Want to be in a show for younger students and have the opportunity to be cast in a larger role? Not available to be in the main stage production the week of Spring Break? Then get ready to take the stage! This rehearsal-based musical theatre class gives students the chance to dive into character work, singing, dancing, and ensemble building as they prepare a full production of Honk Jr. This show offers plenty of opportunity for everyone to shine! With eight weeknight rehearsals and three extended Saturday sessions, performers will develop skills, make friends, and bring this vibrant musical to life in a final performance you won’t want to miss. This class is a good introduction to CYT for a new student before committing to a main stage show, students who need more experience in a role before holding a main stage role, and/or students who are unable to commit to Spring break week or want a break from the main stage production.
*Honk, Jr.” is not a main stage production and will be presented as a CYT lite show with minimal set on Sunday, March 8th, at 4pm & 6:30pm at Hope Chapel. We are offering this in conjunction with our main stage show, since Fiddler on the Roof has only 2 female children’s roles available and fewer than normal ensemble opportunities for kids. If a student is cast in one of the younger children’s roles in Fiddler, they may choose to move to a different class as an option. It is possible to be cast in Honk, Jr. and be in the Fiddler chorus, but both shows will require separate auditions.
- Once registered a link to the music files will be sent. Due to our short rehearsal time, all students will be required to come to their first class knowing all songs and lyrics. Class space limited to 30.
- Auditions will be held, Saturday, January 3rd from 9:00am-12:00pm. Audition sides (song options) will be sent out in a link.
- Additional required Saturday rehearsals: February 7th, 21st and March 7th
- Students will be responsible for creating their own costume with input from director
Auditions will be held on Saturday, January 3rd at Hope Chapel in the family room from 9:00am - 12:00pm. Students enrolled in this class must choose one of the song cuts on the links that will be sent out in a separate email as their audition piece.

NOTE: In addition to the weekly classes, all students will be required to attend 3 Saturday rehearsals at Hope Chapel on the following dates from 9:00am to 3:00pm: Feb. 7th, 21st and March 7th. Students will need to bring their lunch. Specific details about the Saturday rehearsals will be communicated once the Winter session begins. To ensure the success of the show, students are required to attend all scheduled classes and rehearsals. Those with more than 2 absences may become ineligible to participate.
