Description

Get ready to transform your voice and bring characters to life in a whole new way!

In this fun and interactive class, students will explore two exciting accents: British (Received Pronunciation) and turn-of-the-century New York, while learning practical techniques to strengthen their vocal flexibility and performance skills. Through engaging exercises and creative practice, they’ll build confidence in using accents and discover how to adapt their voice for a variety of characters.

This class culminates with a lively radio play performance, where students will showcase their new skills and step into character using the accents they’ve learned.

Whether you're new to accents or looking to sharpen your acting skills,  this class is a great way to grow as a performer and have a blast doing it!

Anaka Smith

Anaka grew up in Colorado and has been acting since the age of eight. She attended Pepperdine University on a theatre scholarship where she learned about acting, but also discovered a love for costume design and construction. After moving to Austin and doing community theatre, the Lord brought her to her current calling as a teacher. She taught tech theatre and acting and co-directed two state qualifying UIL one act plays at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville. Now at Austin Classical School, she has taught middle school Shakespeare, history, and science, then kindergarten and most recently 4th grade. Her favorite roles on stage have been Beth in “Little Women” and Alex in “On the Verge”, but her favorite roles in life are as Quinn’s wife, Abram, Selah, Simon, and Moses’s mom and as a beloved daughter of God
