Katie is excited to share her passion for choral singing with CYT students! She has taught music for 19 years - eight years directing high school choir and seven years teaching elementary music and choir. While at the high school level, she served as vocal director for musicals—favorites include Wonderful Town, Shrek, Once Upon a Mattress, and Les Misérables. For the past four years, Katie has taught private piano, voice, and ukulele lessons while homeschooling her children. A Pennsylvania native, she holds a bachelor’s in Music Education from Messiah University (2006) and a master’s in Choral Conducting from Lynchburg University. She lives in Pflugerville and enjoys serving at her church by directing the Children’s Choir, singing on the praise teams, and co-directing the adult choir. One of her favorite passages of scripture is Psalm 96:1-3 - Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. — We are created to sing and worship. Katie looks forward to developing this skill with you!
