Description

Come join us for a fabulous and fun workshop class where you will learn basic acting techniques, theater terminology, and the art of acting “out” to the audience for musical theater! You will learn what skills you need to develop as an actor through creative movement, theater games, sketches, improvisation and more!  Learn to use your body, voice, facial expressions, and even your brain to create correct responses and characters! Whether you are a beginner or a more seasoned actor, this class will help you grow your skills! Actor's Toolbox is CYT Core Class

Kathryn Newbrough Osborne

Kathryn Newbrough Osborne is a New York-based actor/director/teacher with deep Texas roots. She started her career in Houston with Houston’s Shakespeare, Shaw, Jewish Theatre Festivals, and The Alley Theatre. Kathryn has been an AEA and SAG/AFTRA performer for over 35 years, working in the arts and entertainment industry in the New York area, both on and off Broadway, as well as regionally in theatre. She has worked in film, TV, cable, industrial films, commercials, voice-overs, and print venues. Kathryn received her BFA in acting from the University of Texas and graduated Summa Cum Laude with her MA from Caldwell University in New Jersey. Kathryn has studied with Eli Wallach, Jeff Corey, Joan Vail Thorne, Avra Petrides, John Basil, E. Katherine Kerr, Arethra Sills, and Tommy Tune. Kathryn is also a dynamic theatre director. She has directed and/or produced over 50 productions for children aged 5 to 90 in various venues, including local school settings, community theaters, regional theaters, and off-off-Broadway. Kathryn has written two plays that have been produced off-off-Broadway in New York. She currently coaches acting privately for children and adults.

Julie Novak

Julie Novak has been teaching and directing theater in a school and community setting for over 20 years. While teaching at the renowned Valley Christian Conservatory, in San Jose, California, she developed her own theater arts curriculum for students 6-8 grades and a curriculum for students 6-12 grade while teaching and directing at Summit Christian Academy in Austin, Texas. Julie has directed plays, musicals, one acts, musical reviews, competition scenes, concerts and benefit shows too numerous to count! She has been trained in a multitude of acting techniques, such as the Wheeler Recording Method, On Camera Acting, Improvisational Acting, various vocal genres and public speaking. Outside of her teaching career she has worked as an acting coach, speaker, ghostwriter, vocalist and done voice over studio work. Her greatest love is working with young people in the arts and helping them develop confidence and belief in their personal gift set. Julie began CYT Austin In January of 2015 after she felt called to take her passion to speak life and encouragement into young people through the arts, outside the walls of a school and into her community.
